What is what3words and how can I use it for my parcel deliveries?
What3words is an innovative addressing system. It’s divided the world – including the UK – into a grid of 3 metre squares, giving each square a unique combination of three words. This makes what3words perfect for your parcel deliveries, as our drivers can now be even more precise with your exact delivery location! You can only use what3words on the Yodel Parcel Tracker app, which you can download for iOS or Android right here.
How do I include my what3words in the Yodel Parcel Tracker app?
Firstly, you’ll need to download the Yodel Parcel Tracker app to use what3words. From there, head to ‘Account’ and select ‘Delivery Addresses’. Enter your delivery address if you haven’t already, or select your existing address. Once you’ve done this, select ‘Find my what3words’ in the app. You’ll then be taken to the what3words website (or what3words app if you have it). Simply select the 3 square metre area that you would like to make your delivery location, and copy your what3words, or make a note of them. Once you’ve done this, head back to the Yodel Parcel Tracker app and paste (or type) your what3words in. That’s it, complete the rest of your preferences, and we’ll use the location you’ve chosen to delivery your Yodel parcels.
What3words are displayed just like this example: ‘///my.three.words’ – so be sure to enter them just like this in the Yodel Parcel Tracker app.
How does what3words work for buildings of more than one floor?
A what3words address works for ground level, just like a street address. Simply enter the what3words address for the building entrance, then add the floor and flat or office information too.
How are what3words addresses checked to ensure they are entered correctly?
what3words’ AutoSuggest technology helps spot and correct mistakes by displaying location information alongside the what3words address, as well as suggestions for what you may have intended to enter. When entering your what3words, double-check that the location is correct. You can type in your address in the what3words search bar to ensure you have the right what3words, too.
